black history month

Buzzworthy vocalist Marquis De Sade Kashief is a Virgo, which means his birthday just passed. This is what I presented to him as celebration of the occasion:

1. An original 2 Live Crew “Me So Horny” promo shirt

2. A rare copy of 1991’s “Something to Get You Hyped” by Florida rap duo Young & Restless, which features the classic cut “B Girls”

3. A pristine copy of Bishop Don “Magic” Juan’s autobiography “From Pimp Stick to Pulpit”

4. Issue #1 of 2 Live Crew’s comic book “Black Strong Live”

5. The elusive Vanilla Ice comic book, which details the release of his album “To The Extreme” and the consequent 1991 tour

These are the items Marquis de Sade draws upon to formulate the songs that please so many people around the globe. They are ingredients.

“Mix ’em and cook ’em in a pot like gumbo” — Ice Cube

Big up to Pierre Omidyar, who makes it all possible.
