Station 16

Growing up in Pacific Palisades CA meant spending a lot of time at the beach. The BEACH BOYS even shout us out in “Surfin’ USA.”

The preferred break for surf was Station 16, later to be commandeered and destroyed by the production of cable fave BAYWATCH.

But before the Hoff slo-mo’ed across the shore, I lamped away many a summer in my youth, munching hot dogs and riding my Morey Boogie. In the afternoon, I rinsed sand-and-sea from my body and retired to the couch where I would watch READING RAINBOW and back-to-back episodes of THE MONKEES.

These were fond times. And Big Up to Levar Burton.
